The Memphis Grizzlies have reportedly made a big move as the trade deadline nears.

Per ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Grizzlies are sending star forward Jaren Jackson Jr. and John Konchar, Jock Landale and Vince Williams Jr. to the Utah Jazz for Walter Clayton Jr., Kyle Anderson, Taylor Hedricks, Georges Niang and three future first-round picks.

Utah receives:

• Jaren Jackson Jr.
• Jock Landale
• John Konchar

Memphis receives:

• Walter Clayton Jr.
• Kyle Anderson
• Taylor Hendricks
• Georges Niang
• Three future first-round picks

Jackson is averaging 19.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.5 blocks per game in 45 games with Memphis this season. He is a two-time All-Star and was named Kia Defensive Player of the Year in 2022-23.

Jackson spent his entire eight-season career with the Grizzlies after they selected him No. 4 overall in the 2018 Draft. He and Ja Morant comprised the core of Memphis’ team as it rose from a lottery team to a Play-In Tournament team to a playoff team in short order.

The Jazz are adding Jackson, who is under contract through the 2029-30 season (he has a player option) to a core that includes All-Star Lauri Markkanen, guard Keyonte George, young swingman Ace Bailey, injured center Walker Kessler and a host of other talent. Konchar is under contract through next season, Williams has a team option for 2026-27 and Landale will be a free agent this summer.

Landale (11.3 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 1.7 apg) is enjoying his best NBA season and has become a key rotation player for Memphis, while Williams and Konchar have seen smaller roles this season.

Memphis (19-29) is No. 11 in the Western Conference and three games behind the Portland Trail Blazers for the final SoFi Play-In Tournament spot. Utah (15-35) has lost six in a row and has the third-worst record in the Western Conference.

Of the four Utah players moving to Memphis in the deal, none averaged more than 7.1 points per game this season. Niang has yet to play because of an injury. He was with Atlanta last season, got traded to Boston in July and then sent to Utah in August.

The Jazz are moving on from two recent Draft picks in this trade, parting with Hendricks (the No. 9 pick in the 2023 Draft) and Clayton Jr. (No. 18 pick in 2025). Hendricks is averaging 4.9 ppg and 3 rpg this season, while Clayton is at 6.8 ppg, 2 rpg and 3.2 apg.

Anderson (7.1 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 3.1 apg) will be on his second stop with the Grizzlies (the fan favorite played there from 2018-22).

Deni Avdija | Portland Trail Blazers

Season Stats: 25.5 ppg (14th), 7.2 rpg, 6.7 apg (13th), 0.8 spg, 0.6 bpg, 46.7 FG%, 35.6 3P%

In the debut of the US vs. World All-Star format, Avdija’s breakout season has helped him become the first Israeli to be named an NBA All-Star. In his sixth season overall — and second in Portland — Avdija is averaging career highs of 25.5 points (up 8.6 from last season) and 6.7 assists (up 2.8 from last season), along with 7.2 rebounds. Avdija is one of only three players averaging at least 25 points, seven rebounds and six assists this season. The other two — Denver’s Nikola Jokić and Los Angeles’ Luka Dončić — are All-Star starters and will be teammates with Avdija on the World team next weekend.

Jalen Duren | Detroit Pistons

Season Stats: 18.0 ppg, 10.7 rpg (6th), 1.8 apg, 0.9 spg, 0.8 bpg, 63.5 FG% (6th)

In his fourth NBA season, Duren has established himself as a force inside the paint for the East-leading Pistons. He’s averaging a career-best 18 points per game, often coming off lobs from fellow All-Star Cade Cunningham or via Duren’s specialty — cleaning the glass. Duren ranks sixth overall in rebounding but ranks third in offensive boards at 3.8 per game and 10th in second-chance points at 3.6 per game. Meanwhile, he’s also one of the anchors of Detroit’s second-ranked defense (108.3 DefRtg) and ranks 11th in defensive rebounds per game.

Chet Holmgren | Oklahoma City Thunder

Season Stats: 17.7 ppg, 8.5 rpg (17th), 1.6 apg, 0.5 spg, 2.1 bpg (3rd), 56.6 FG% (12th), 36.6 3P%

In his third NBA season, Holmgren anchors the league’s top-ranked defense (105.8 DefRtg), ranking third in the league in blocked shots and second in overall rim protection (47.1% allowed). This has helped OKC limit opponents to league lows of 108 points per game and 40.3 points in the paint per game. Holmgren has coupled his defensive excellence with career-best numbers on the glass (8.5) and in scoring (17.7 ppg) as OKC’s second-leading scorer behind fellow All-Star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Jalen Johnson | Atlanta Hawks

Season Stats: 23.1 ppg (21st), 10.5 rpg (7th), 8.0 apg (4th), 1.3 spg, 0.5 bpg, 49.9 FG%, 36.0 3P%

A year ago, Johnson’s breakout season was halted by a torn labrum that required season-ending surgery. Back healthy to start the season, Johnson picked up where he left off and continued to elevate his game. The fifth-year forward is putting up career-best marks in points, rebounds and assists — joining All-Star starters Nikola Jokić and Giannis Antetokounmpo as the only players averaging at least 20 points, 10 rebounds and five assists so far this season. Johnson’s eight triple-doubles, which quadruple his career total entering this season, rank second only to Jokić as Johnson’s all-around game has earned him his first All-Star selection.

Jamal Murray | Denver Nuggets

Season Stats: 25.5 ppg (13th), 4.4 rpg, 7.5 apg (7th), 1.0 spg, 0.4 bpg, 48.7 FG%, 43.9 3P% (11th)

A longtime member of the “best player to never be named an All-Star” discussion thanks to his multiple 50+ point games, game-winning buckets, and big-game performances in both the regular season and playoffs, Murray breaks through in his ninth season while putting up career-best numbers in points, rebounds, assists, field goal and 3-point percentages. Murray was also a catalyst for keeping the Nuggets top three in the West while Denver dealt with a plethora of injuries. That includes leading the Nuggets to a 10-6 mark while three-time MVP and All-Star starter Nikola Jokić was sidelined for a month. 

Norman Powell | Miami Heat

Season Stats: 23.0 ppg (22nd), 3.7 rpg, 2.6 apg, 1.2 spg, 0.2 bpg, 47.2 FG%, 39.2 3P%

After being on the short list of near All-Stars a year ago while playing for the Clippers, the 32-year-old Powell earned his first All-Star nod in his debut season with the Heat. The 11-year vet is averaging a career-best and team-leading 23 points per game, leading the NBA’s second-highest scoring offense (120 ppg) in points, field goals made, 3-pointers made, free throws made, 20+ and 30+ point games. Powell will have a slight home-court advantage with the All-Star Game being played at LA’s Intuit Dome, where Powell shot 48.7% overall and 41.3% from 3-point range over 33 home games in the arena’s inaugural season in 2024-25.

The 2026 Castrol Rising Stars were drafted to three teams Tuesday with Dallas Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg, Charlotte Hornets rookie Kon Knueppel and Philadelphia 76ers rookie VJ Edgecombe selected in the first round by honorary coaches Carmelo Anthony, Tracy McGrady and Vince Carter.

The three teams of top NBA rookies and sophomores will compete against a G League squad in a mini-tournament Friday, Feb. 13 (9 ET, Peacock) at the LA Clippers’ Intuit Dome as part of NBA All-Star 2026.

For each semifinal game, the winner will be the first team to reach or surpass 40 points. For the championship game, the winner will be the first team to reach or surpass 25 points.

NBA assistant coaches determined the pool of 21 NBA players, with each team submitting one ballot. Voters ranked 10 rookies and 10 sophomores, with more points assigned to higher placements. The top 10 rookies and top 10 sophomores by point total earned spots. The final spot was awarded to the higher-scoring player among the 11^th-ranked finishers in each class. The pool includes one more sophomore than rookie based on total points received.

An assistant coach from one of the NBA All-Star Game coaching staffs will be named head coach of each of the four Castrol Rising Stars teams, working alongside the honorary coaches.

Orlando Magic

• Schedule: Monday at Cavaliers (Peacock), Wednesday at Heat, Friday vs. Raptors (ESPN), Sunday at Spurs
• Game to Watch: Monday at Cavaliers (Peacock): This is a matchup of teams on contrasting streaks. The Cavs seek a fourth straight win, while the Magic look to avoid a four-game skid. At 23-21, the Magic have dropped into the Play-In portion of the standings, looking up at the Cavs in fifth place, 2.5 games ahead of Orlando.

Philadelphia 76ers

• Schedule: Monday at Hornets, Tuesday vs. Bucks (NBC/Peacock), Thursday vs. Kings, Saturday vs. Pelicans
• Game to Watch: Monday at Hornets: The Sixers have traded wins and losses their past five games, with each contest decided by single digits. With four sub-.500 teams on the schedule this week, can the Sixers string together some wins and build momentum? It all begins Monday in Charlotte.

Toronto Raptors

• Schedule: Wednesday vs. Knicks, Friday at Magic (ESPN), Sunday vs. Jazz
• Game to Watch: Wednesday vs. Knicks: On Sunday, the Raptors came up big in clutch time to knock off the West-leading Thunder. Can they follow that up with a win over the fourth-place Knicks in the East? In addition to increasing their lead for third place in the conference, the Raptors would pull within 2-1 in the five-game season series.

Washington Wizards

• Schedule: Tuesday vs. Trail Blazers, Thursday vs. Bucks (Prime Video), Friday vs. Lakers, Sunday vs. Kings
• Game to Watch: Thursday vs. Bucks (Prime Video): One of only four nationally broadcast games for the Wizards, the Prime Video spotlight will shine on Washington’s last top-six draft picks – Alex Sarr (No. 2 pick in 2024) and Tre Johnson (No. 6 pick in 2025).

Western Conference

The Nuggets and Thunder will renew their longstanding rivalry with a matchup in Denver this week.

Dallas Mavericks

In the middle is a 2025 first round playoff rematch with one of the league’s hottest teams at the moment – the Clippers, who are 15-3 in their last 18 games.

Golden State Warriors 

• Schedule: Monday at Timberwolves (Peacock), Wednesday at Jazz, Friday vs. Pistons (ESPN)
• Game to Watch: Monday at Timberwolves (Peacock): After beating Minnesota convincingly on Sunday, the Warriors and Wolves will run it back from Minnesota to open Week 15. Steph Curry, who cracked the top 20 all-time scoring list on Sunday, needs one point to pass Paul Pierce for 19th place and 100 points to pass Tim Duncan for 18th place.

Houston Rockets 

• Schedule: Monday vs. Grizzlies, Wednesday vs. Spurs (ESPN), Thursday at Hawks, Saturday vs. Mavericks (ABC)
• Game to Watch: Wednesday vs. Spurs (ESPN): What separates Houston and San Antonio? Two-hundred miles by car, 2 1/2 games in the West standings and six points in their first two games this season (which they split). This rubber match is a can’t-miss game this week.

LA Clippers 

• Schedule: Tuesday at Jazz (NBC/Peacock), Friday at Nuggets, Sunday at Suns
• Game to Watch: Tuesday at Jazz (NBC/Peacock): The Clippers are an NBA-best 10-3 in January and have won 15 of their last 18 games overall. They will look to stay hot and continue to climb the West standings when they visit the Jazz on Tuesday night.

Los Angeles Lakers 

• Schedule: Monday at Bulls, Wednesday at Cavaliers (ESPN), Friday at Wizards, Sunday at Knicks (NBC/Peacock)
• Game to Watch: Sunday at Knicks (NBC/Peacock): Two of the game’s biggest stars – Luka Dončić and LeBron James – make their lone stop of the season at the World’s Most Famous Arena. James is 23-8 at MSG in his career, with averages of 28.2 points, seven rebounds, and 7.6 assists. Dončić is 4-2, while putting up similar numbers (27.5 ppg, 8.8 rpg and 7.7 apg).

Memphis Grizzlies

• Game to Watch: Friday at Pelicans: Over their past 12 meetings, the Grizzlies and Pelicans have more games decided in overtime (three) than by double digits (one). Minnesota Timberwolves 

• Schedule: Monday vs. Warriors (Peacock), Wednesday at Mavericks, Thursday vs. Thunder (Prime Video), Saturday at Grizzlies
• Game to Watch: Thursday vs. Thunder (Prime Video): This rematch of the 2025 Western Conference Finals enters its third chapter of the season after the first two meetings between the Thunder and Wolves both came down to clutch time. With the season series split 1-1, who will win the rubber match?

New Orleans Pelicans 

• Schedule: Tuesday at Thunder, Friday vs. Grizzlies, Saturday at 76ers
• Game to Watch: Tuesday at Thunder: The Pelicans seek their first win over the Thunder in almost exactly two years (Jan. 26, 2024) as OKC has won the last eight head-to-head matchups. However, New Orleans enters this game looking for its second three-game win streak of the season, while OKC tries to avoid its first three-game skid of the season.

Oklahoma City Thunder 

• Schedule: Tuesday vs. Pelicans, Thursday at Timberwolves (Prime Video), Sunday at Nuggets (NBC/Peacock)
• Game to Watch: Sunday at Nuggets (NBC/Peacock): The first meeting of the season between No. 1 OKC and No. 3 Denver wraps up Week 15 for both teams. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander could be aiming for his 120th straight game with 20+ points, which would move him within seven of breaking Wilt Chamberlain’s record.

Phoenix Suns 

• Schedule: Tuesday vs. Nets, Thursday vs. Pistons, Friday vs. Cavaliers, Sunday vs. Clippers
• Game to Watch: Tuesday vs. Nets: With Devin Booker sidelined for at least a week, the Suns need to find a way to win without him (1-4 so far this season when Booker is sidelined). Their first shot comes Tuesday against Brooklyn, which is the only sub-.500 team on Phoenix’s schedule this week.

Portland Trail Blazers 

• Schedule: Monday at Celtics (Peacock), Tuesday at Wizards, Friday at Knicks, Sunday vs. Cavaliers
• Game to Watch: Monday at Celtics (Peacock): Jrue Holiday makes his first return to Boston since last summer’s trade that sent him to Portland for Anfernee Simons. Keep an eye on both the game and the reception that the 2024 champion receives from the Garden crowd.

Sacramento Kings

A severe winter storm warning in the Northeast has caused the rescheduling of Saturday’s game between the Wizards and Hornets in Charlotte. The Wizards and Hornets will now tip off at noon ET on Saturday, Jan. 24 due to impending weather.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Charlotte and its surrounding areas for Saturday morning through Monday afternoon, and significant ice accumulation and sleet-covered roadways are forecasted.

The National Weather Service forecasted that sleet could accumulate up to two inches, and wind could gust as high as 30 mph. Charlotte-area residents are advised to consider delaying all travel and to drive with extreme caution.

Durant needed the 17 points to move past Nowitzki into sixth place on the all-time scorer list. Durant got those points and finished with 18 in a 119-110 win over New Orleans. The 15-time All-Star scored his final two points from the free throw line with 15.2 seconds remaining and added another career highlight.

Durant has 31,562 points, two better than Nowitzki (31,560), with Michael Jordan in fifth place at 32,292.

“To be up there with Dirk, somebody I looked up to, I idolized, I competed against,” Durant said. “We had some great battles. He always was supportive of my career and my game. So, you know to be up there with a legend like that, it’s just insane. And be right under Michael Jordan, it’s crazy man.

With a free throw 15 seconds from the finish, Kevin Durant passes Dirk Nowitzki for 6th on the NBA’s all-time scoring list.

“I want to continue to keep stacking, keep climbing up the charts, just see how I finish. It’s been amazing so far.”

Durant’s collection of milestones isn’t lost of his teammates.

“He’s passing people nightly,” Rockets forward Jabari Smith Jr. said of Durant. “He’s passing people in every category. He just keeps accomplishing milestones and he just acts like it’s nothing. He doesn’t celebrate it, he’s wasn’t out there trying to hunt and go get it. He’s just out there hooping and it just happens organically.

“He’s a testament of what a basketball player is supposed to be.”

Durant reflected on the earlier years of his career when he and Nowitzki had “meaningful battles,” including the Western Conference finals in 2011. Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks beat Durant and Oklahoma City 4-1 and went on to beat the Miami Heat for their first NBA championship.

Then, the next year, when the Mavericks tried to repeat, Durant and the Thunder swept them out of the playoffs.

“There were times going into a series I hated Dirk, you know what I’m saying. I’m sure it was vice versa,” Durant said.

As Durant grew in the league, he idolized Nowitzki.

Durant wanted to the same respect Nowitzki received.

“I tried to emulate as much as I can all the great players, but I took a lot from Dirk,” Durant said.

After the Rockets victory on Sunday night, a special message from Nowitzki was played on the video board.

“It’s been incredible to watch his career,” Nowitzki said in the video. “Like I said, he’s one of the purest scorers this game has ever seen. And so congrats KD, keep it going. Move up a couple more spots and keep it up.”

Durant appreciated the message from Nowitzki.

“For him to take time out of his day to send me a message on passing him on the charts is pretty cool,” Durant said. “It speaks to how humble Dirk is.”
